Rep. VanderWall elected to House leadership position

State Rep. Curt VanderWall (R-Ludington) has been elected to serve as an Associate Speaker Pro Tempore of the Michigan House for the 2025-26 legislative session.

This leadership position further solidifies VanderWall’s commitment to serving the people of Michigan and ensuring the smooth operation of the legislative process.

“I am honored to be selected by my peers to assume this leadership role,” VanderWall said. “I look forward to continuing to work alongside them to advance policies that matter to Michigan residents.”

In his role, Rep. VanderWall will assist in presiding over House sessions, maintaining order during debates, and ensuring legislative procedures are followed efficiently.

Rep. VanderWall has served in the Michigan Legislature since 2016, making him one of the longest serving members in the chamber, and bringing with him a wealth of experience. Throughout his tenure, he has been a strong advocate for key issues related to health policy, child care and agriculture.

Rep. VanderWall represents Michigan’s 102nd District which includes parts of Manistee, Mason, Oceana and Muskegon Counties and continues to focus on policies that support families, small businesses, and the overall prosperity of the people he represents.
